Family Counseling

Families can be tough places to live, particularly if they don't know how to get along. If everyone loves each other, why is it so hard to be happy together?

At times family counseling becomes necessary when conflicts between siblings or between parents and siblings become disruptive to the family group. If children have disruptive behavior in the home or at school, it can create distance between all family members. The problems can be as complex as dealing with an older child's running away from home or as simple as helping to establish and accomplish a working system of getting chores done.
Marital and Couples Counseling

It takes time to build and maintain a happy & healthy marriage. With the demands of work and family chores, finances and children, the relationship can become strained. Couples can still love each other, but lose sight of how they grew so far apart. Unhealthy relationship patterns can be established and communication can be blocked. It becomes hard to know how to find the way back.

If there is commitment to the relationship and with proper therapy, couples can often rekindle that old flame and build an even stronger bond. Even if one person changes his or her behavior in a healthy manner, a positive change in the whole relationship pattern of the family will result.

Broader Horizons offers both traditional and non-traditional (EAP) relationship-skills-building counseling. Pre-marital Counseling or Relationship Tune-ups groups are offered in an 8-10 week program exploring issues such as Communication, Making Decisions, Finances, Sex & Child Rearing, Conflict Resolution and Recreation & Leisure.

If couples are not sure if the marriage is worth saving or are already seeking a divorce, Broader Horizons is certified to do counseling that is court-ordered or before it even gets to the attorneys. There are ways to end a relationship without it costing your life savings due to attorney fees and long, drawn- out legal battles.
